Message from the Presidents

We are delighted and honored to be the Medfield Garden Club’s co-presidents for 2023/24. We hope to build on last year’s success by continuing to offer educational and charitable opportunities for our members who appreciate gardens, horticulture and floral design.

We will continue to hold our monthly meetings in-person in September, October, November, April and May. All of these meetings will be held at The Center at Medfield. Meanwhile, our January and February meetings will be Zoom-only meetings. Our Programs Committee has lined up wonderful speakers covering a variety of interesting topics. Our programs will continue to be supplemented by pop up events that are held throughout the year to offer small group learning experiences that are a short drive away.

Our two main fundraisers, The Holiday Stroll/Green Sale and our Spring Plant Sale will continue to provide our club with income to fund our programs, as well as to share our beautiful holiday arrangements and perennials from our gardens with the local community.

Community involvement is important and is also shown by maintaining the many beautiful town garden sites, creating arrangements for the Thomas Upham House and Meals on Wheels, coordinating Art in Bloom with the town library, high school art students and our very own floral designers, and opening some of our meetings to the local community. Additionally, this year we will expand our service by developing two short programs for The Center’s respite care group called The Club.

The Medfield Garden Club is an active organization run by volunteers and our success is based on everyone’s involvement. If you aren’t on a committee, please consider joining one, taking on a town garden site, or leading a pop up event of your choice. There are plenty of ways to get involved. If you’re not ready to take a lead role but would like to in the future, consider shadowing someone for the Bloom Brigade or the Holiday Home Sale this year to get some experience. Another way to help out is to spread the work and invite your friends to attend a meeting or to join our club.

We’re very excited about our new year and hope you will join us to make it a great one!
