About Us
The Medfield Garden Club was founded in 1933 for the purpose of community beautification, conservation and education. The club currently has nearly one hundred members and new members are always welcome.
The Medfield Garden Club sponsors two major fundraisers: an annual Spring Plant Sale and a Holiday Home Sale, “Deck The Halls” to support the club’s year-round community beautification projects at numerous public buildings, intersections and entry points in the town. The club maintains twenty-three planters and in-ground garden sites and we decorate town buildings and the Library gazebo with holiday greens and wreaths.
A perennial spring favorite is the Medfield Garden Club’s partnership with the Medfield High School Art Department to create Art ‘N Bloom for the community. Many of our community service projects are not as obvious as our civic beautification sites, but the Medfield Garden Club is a working club. We volunteer in programs such as Meals on Wheels, the Council on Aging, Garden Therapy and the Lions Chowderfest.
We offer community-wide programming and lectures by outstanding regional horticulturalists at the Medfield Public Library. We organize a Department of Public Works luncheon as a thank you to Town employees for partnering with us in our civic beautification sites and we give free gardening advice and handouts at our booth on Medfield Day.
Many of the Club’s informational meetings are open to the public and cover a broad range of topics from native plants and pollinators to shade gardening, orchids, drought resistant species for New England landscapes, houseplants, container gardens, vegetable gardening in small spaces, organic pest management and guided tours to local horticultural sites.
